Herd Auction - Autographed Rod Sherman Jersey

Current Bid: $150 July 18, 2007

Just in case you missed the first auction, the Thundering Herd is proud to offer another auction – which is being conducted to offer support of the Herd’s fundraising efforts for a new cart for the USC football team.

Up for auction for the highest bidder is a brand spanking new 1964 reproduction football jersey, designed and made as close to the original as possible – autographed by Rod Sherman.

This item is a personal donation to the Thundering Herd from a collection of one of the members of the Herd.

Bid competitively and show support for your football team.

November 1964 – the undefeated Fighting Irish came into The Coliseum, led by their quarterback, Heisman Trophy winner John Huarte. Only the Trojans stood between Notre Dame and another National Championship.

The Irish had control of the game. At halftime, they led 17-0.

Late in the game with their chances running out, the Trojans pulled to within striking range. With about a minute and a half left in the game, McKay’s Trojans had the ball on the Irish 15 yard line. On 4th down, split end Rod Sherman went to his coach with a play.

84-Z Delay.

Quarterback Craig Fertig was buried by defenders as he fired the ball towards the Irish goal line. Rod Sherman caught it at the 3 and spun into the end zone!

TROJANS – 20
CRYIN’ IRISH – 17

Please email your bids to USCHerd@aol.com. The Auction will close on Monday, July 23rd. Fight On.
