A Trojan Child, a poem

A TROJAN CHILD
To my daughter Rebecca Marie Logan
Written by Angelica Logan

(A history: When 7-year-old Jacob DeLong left his Canyon Country home for a January trip to the California Science Center in Los Angeles, he was excited to say the least. But after a slight detour to the University of Southern California bookstore, Jacob would soon be hailing the day as the "best in his life." Diagnosed with leukemia in June, the last six months have been filled with chemotherapy sessions and a series of hospital visits for Jacob. As a side effect of his treatment Jacob became nauseous and vomited inside the car - dirtying his clothes in the process. Lisa and Jacob bumped into bookstore employee Angelica Logan and casually explained the situation - that Jacob was suffering from leukemia and had become ill during the car ride. Instructing Jacob to stay put for a minute, Logan left, only to return with an autographed USC football that she presented to Jacob. Logan then asked Jacob if he would be interested in meeting some of the USC football players.)

Any other child will jump around as their Football team enters the field.

A Trojan child will stand still and sing you the alma mater word for word as the USC football team enters the field.

Any other child will ask their mom and dad “What’s going on” on the field.

A Trojan child will tell mom and dad what the last play was and what down we’re on.

Any other child will ask mom and dad who each player is.

A Trojan child will tell you who each player is and what positions they play and who the starters are.

Any other child won’t know who the quarter back is for their team.

A Trojan child will not only tell you but also spell the name correctly.

Any other child when asked what their battle cry is will tell you CHARGE!!!!!!!!

A Trojan child will yell FIGHT ON!!!!!!!!!!

Any other child when asked if they know what a Heisman Trophy is, Will tell you NO.

A Trojan Child not only will tell you but also give you the name of the USC Player who received it.

Any other child when asked what there favorite colors are will give you yellow and blue (LOL)

A Trojan Child will answer cardinal and gold.

Any other child when asked who there team Coach is will give you the name of there little league coach.

A Trojan child will tell you Pete Carroll and tell you how many championships he has given to USC.

Any other child when they see a player on the ground hurt will ask his parents “Will he be OK.”

A Trojan child will yell at the player to get up and get ready for the next play.

Any other child when asked who their mascot is will ask you “What’s a Mascot”

A Trojan child will answer Traveler the horse

Any other child could only dream of being like a Trojan

A Trojan Child is a TROJAN
