Tragic Loss of a Trojan Fan
October 31, 2007

My name is Bert Vigil aka BV4SC. My son David passed away Monday morning and my family is asking for the Herd's prayers. David was a former football player for Crespi High School and a loyal USC Football fan. David sat in the Herd only once (thanks UCLAChupa) and he said it was the best! We sit in section 4 and used to attend the Tail Gates at Menlo and 39th. David always wanted to go to the tunnel at the end of the games and cheer the players. I am so glad that he was able to experience USC Football's rise to some of the greatest moments in the programs history (thanks Pete, Staff, players and fans) and experience some of the greatest fans in College Football.

Many Thanks to the Herd for the Prayers for our Family

Since the loss of our son David Vigil. The support we have been receiving from the community has been incredible. The local baseball league is going to start a scholarship fund and dedicate a field in David's name. His high school, Crespi Carmelite, dedicated their last game football game to him and they clinched a playoff berth by beatng Loyola 38-7! Crespi plays Notre Dame Friday night and Notre Dame is going to say a prayer for David before the game. We had 400 plus people at the funeral Monday but now we are trying to get our lives back together. We do live in a special place and the Thundering Herd is another special community.

I Just Received Some Very Sad News

My beautiful and amazing Aunt Barbara passed away yesterday. When Barbara was a young girl she went to USC. That's where she met my Uncle Bud. They fell in love instanty. Barbara was the spitting image of Jane Powell and was often mistaken for her. She was a true beauty inside and out. She was a very special person. After an illness several years ago she completely lost her sight. But she pressed on. She learned Brail, she took all kinds of classes, she went to exercise class four times a week, she wrote childrens books, some published and very popular, and she knew every inch of her house and kitchen and could cook any meal. It never seased to amaze me every time I went to visit and she walked around the kitchen and the house like she could see every thing. She was so positive and such an inspiration. She had such a gentle nature and a beutiful voice that I will truly miss. My family is going to miss her. Please say a prayer for us and for my Uncle Bud. Some of you may have met him as he tailgates right next to the old Herd spot. They were both still so in love and would hold hands when ever I saw them. He was so good to her. Now she is seeing all the rainbows in heaven and is with her son and my sister.
